There was a hoax spread about his "death".
In the fall of 1998, rumors spread via internet over a claim that Burns had overdosed on heroin. The rumor stated that Burns was found dead following a heroin overdose. No legitimate news outlet ever picked up the story.[13] In December 1998, Burns made a guest appearence on The Rosie O'Donnell Show explaining his reaction over the hoax.
I remember working on a TV show with Steve and he REALLY wanted to progress past Blue's Clues.
No offense to the show, but he felt it was his time to move on.
